Whenever I'm in the mood for some Korean bbq, I always pop in here for some galbi. While it is pretty pricey, I always feel that it's worth it for good food. There are other dishes that are cheaper, but galbi is my favorite so I rarely deviate from it. My kids, on the other hand, order dukkbokki and udon all the time. I personally am not a fan because the first is overly sweet and the second is usually overcooked. In the end, I'd still recommend Koko's if you're hungry for some Korean bbq. The service wasn't bad and the atmosphere is very casual and friendly.

I was so excited to finally check this place out and it was great! I don't know how the prices are as this was my first time eating Korean BBQ in America. I have had it in Korea, and this was very comparable, which is a good thing. There were four of us and we split an order of the beef brisket and spicy marinated pork belly for the bbq, and also got kimchi stew and a naengmyun with ribeye (or some other meat). It was more than enough food for four people. The bbq was delicious, I especially liked the marinated pork belly, which I think is a good level of spicy, however it might be too hot for people that aren't accustomed to spicy food. The other stuff we got was good, too, but I was really just all about the bbq today. I definitely plan on going back and trying more things on the menu. We ended up each paying 23 dollars, which wasn't too bad, but a little high for me. We could easily have not gotten one of the things we ordered and still had plenty of food, which I will remember next time! The staff was friendly and helpful enough. We knew what we were looking for, but if you have never done Korean BBQ before, I think this would be a good place to start.

My family and I decided to have a dinner outing after flying in from a long flight. I wanted Korean BBQ. My step-mom happens to be Korean and is pretty good at picking out great Korean BBQ places to eat. She decided to take my sister and I to Korean BBQ KoKo. I have to admit, I loved the food! As many Korean BBQ places I have been to, this is my favorite! My step-mom ordered the spare ribs, kal bi and shrimp for the bbq, which came with a salad. Along with it she ordered seafood with fish egg soup and cold noodles (which was amazing!). We also received, as compliments from the chef, fried fish, which practically melted in my mouth. The price here is reasonable. The service is pretty decent here as well. The servers are usually on top of their game.

UPDATED June 2015. Recently they have really improved this place the food has been extremely consistent and the service has gotten better. I have been in search of good Korean food in the Philadelphia area and I have finally found a place that is pretty good. The BBQ is good. I especially enjoy the kalbi (LA or regular) and the bulgogi. The kimchi pancake, Tteokbokki (rice cakes), and Bibim naeng myun (cold noodles) are all fantastic. This place is almost an hour from where I live, but if I want Korean, this is the only place I go!

3.5 stars. So the quest to find good KFC (Korean Fried Chicken) continues... This establishment is split into two: a sit-down Korean restaurant and a bar/karaoke place. I ordered the KFC at the bar for take out- it is $20 for 20 wings, and $27 for 30 wings. There are 3 kinds: plain fried, spicy marinade, and soy marinade, and our family opted for the spicy. They also have whole fried chickens. The wings were of decent size, and the marinade was good, though not as spicy as I would've liked. Seems like the standard for KFC is Soho, and Koko's wings have a nice marinade, but lacks the all-around crunchy layer on the outside. It comes pretty close, though. The deal is better here: $27 for 30 wings of larger size. The pickled radishes are crunchy, but a tad on the vinegary side (I think I tasted come celery in there as well). One of my biggest pet peeves: when I smell cigarette smoke inside an establishment. Please go outside!

The service was excellent. Our waiter was friendly, helpful and extremely attentive. The place is clean and inviting. Reasonably priced for Korean BBQ. The Jap Che and soft tofu stew were delicious and I really recommend the mackerel. Everything we ordered was cooked very well, made with high quality ingredients, and extremely delicious. The restaurant is attached to a tiny sports bar and a noodle house as well, all owned by the same person. Can't wait to try the noodle house! One note, the phone number on this listing is incorrect. The correct number is 215 412 4200.

I. Love. Korean. BBQ. Bring me all the gochujang, bring me all the chili sauce, and bring me all the meats and vegetables you've got. I've only ever gotten takeout from here (I swear, I'll eat in soon...!) However it's always bustling and full of conversation and phenomenal smells wafting from the grill tables that you'll only find in a Korean BBQ joint. If you're not familiar with Korean cuisine (I was fortunate enough to grow up in an area which provided me with many Korean friends and Korean mothers to stuff me full of Bulgogi and Kim chi when I so much as crossed the threshold of the house) go in with an open mind and speak with the staff, or even those around you to find recommendations of what to try. You'll have sides coming out of your ears, and try some new flavor combinations that you soon won't be able to imagine living without ( I think I have every chili sauce or hot sauce which is for sale at Assi right now, because I have a love for flavorful heat and spice ). The ingredients seem to be high quality and served in am amount which is perfect - not too much (say goodbye to American portions..your waist will thank you ) and not too little (you won't leave hungry, that's for sure ) ! If you eat in, Korean BBQ is truly a unique and social experience which puts you in control ! Enjoy, unwind and gain cultural and culinary insight instead of judging something without truly being open to the experiential journey!

I really, really, truly love Korean BBQ. And I really, really, truly would come back here. Food is great. Prices were fine. And the wait staff is spot on. Not too much waiting on, and not too little either. It's tough to find that balance in a Korean BBQ setting, you know what I mean? You don't want to feel like they are cooking your food too fast, turning your meat, watching you like a hawk and at the same time, you don't want to have to wait for them either. Overall, I loved it. I will return.

IM IN LOVE WITH THAT KOKO! The guys who work there have just the right amount of customer service. I had the bibimbap. It was good insofar that they used black rice instead of white rice. But the sauce that was used could have been a bit better. The food is 4 stars Service is 5.

Came last night for me birthday dinner. Staff was friendly and good was amazing! Kalbi, soonduboo, bibimbap (our usuals... Spelling varies per restaurant). We were satisfied with everything but the soonduboo. It was not as flavorful as I was used to. I love their rice! It's this purple rice! Need to get the name!

Expensive, but great service and pretty good food! Only downfall in my opinion is that they make you order a limit of two main dishes at $20 a piece. I don't really enjoy anything when I'm forced into it. Should be my choice on my dime.

This review is based on two trips I took to this restaurant within the past six months. The first time I went with a predominantyl Korean party. We were coming from our respective jobs and decided to meet here since we all ended work around the same time. We were seated promptly and served politely. Our side dishes came out quickly and our main dishes soon therafter. Everything was fine. We were greeted warmly while both entering and leaving the premises. The food is above average only considering the fact that this place is in the suburbs. If the food they had here were served in the city, it would be rated average or slightly below. My second visit here was with a more racially diverse group. Our experience was much different. We were seated quickly however that is where the similarities end. When we ordered our food in English, the waiters seemed to have trouble understanding what we wanted. This was not a big deal because English not being a first language can be difficult at times from personal experience. However the waiter was not attentive to our requests at all after our food came out. Our waters remained empty, side dishes no refilled, etc. Needless to say, I left feeling some type of way the second time around. With the food being average, this is not a MUST HAVE kind of restaurant by whatever means. However if you have some Korean pangs that need to be casually accomodated, this place will suffice.

I have eaten here twice so far. Both times I had the Korean BBQ and it was outstanding! I lived in Korea for a year and this style of dining was one of my greatest finds when I was over there. You basically sit at a table with a grill built into it and cook/eat/enjoy. My wife is not very familiar with Korean food (especially the side dishes), so she asked our waiter about everything and he was very patient and helpful in explaining what it was and how to eat it. If you order BBQ here, you have to choose a minimum of 2 meat items which are $20 apiece (the side dishes will come with them). I recommend the bulgogi (marinated beef), pork belly, or shrimp. Good food, great service, authentic atmosphere, and decently priced. A complete meal for 2 with drinks cost about $50.

Although a little bit on the expensive side I'm going to give this place a 5 star. A very clean friendly environment. The waiters barbecue the food for you and can give you recommendations base on what kind of spice level you can take. Definitely order the beef brisket. It melts in your mouth.

The food was okay but the service was just bad. Really bad. They ignored us most the night. Never took drink orders from us. I flagged them down and asked for the wine list and they never brought it to is. Ate dinner without any drinks. Very unwelcoming and awkward environment, especially for an american unfamiliar with exactly what's what in a Korean BBQ place.

This was our first experience with Korean food and the staff were knowledgable and very helpful patient and understanding. The kimchi they served as an appetizer was new to us! Radishes and fish cakes were the best. We both selected spicy pork dishes and got two totally different dishes. The food was good and we were plenty ! Next time we'll be trying the BBQ side.

3 stars for food, but 4 stars for service. My wife and I went for Korean BBQ and found everyone very attentive and quick to refill our Banchan (side dishes that come with the BBQ). We ordered Bulgogi and spicy pork belly. While the meat was of good enough quality, the marinade wasn't quite as nuanced as we have learned from cooking in Korea. Notably, the marinade didn't seem to have sesame seeds or enough sesame oil and perhaps not enough soy sauce or asian pear juice. The spicy pork was lacking in spice compared to what we were used to. Still, the wait staff was very friendly, the banchan was above average (certainly enjoyed the green onion salad that comes with it) and the BBQ was average. The overall experience is worth trying. Be prepared that with the BBQ you have to two buy a minimum of two of the meat dishes and they range in price from $20-$25 so for two people it will be at least $50 plus with tip and tax.

The food is fantastic. we ordered kalbi and pork belly - and it was fantastic. We also had the seafood and kimchi pancakes - also a must try, but warning...it is a lot of food. The good news, we get to finish it today! Bonus: The kids love cooking the food at the table,. The atmosphere is a bit rustic looking, but the services is aces. We love going as a family, and enjoy bringing friends with us!

A good place for eating with your friends! If your like the Korean BQQ, you can go to there and eat a lot of fresh meat with a nice price! If you have child, it is also a good place for children, because they offer free yummy ice cream! I would like to give them an "A"!

Ordered wings, sausage bokkum, donkatsu, and one yogurt soju. Nothing special, but all decently tasting. However, our bill came out to roughly 90$ after tip. Nothing we ate was fancy enough to cost 90$ total and was genuinely shocked at the bill. Good for late night eating and drinks I guess, but definitely not worth the price tag.

Ko Ko is my usual dinner spot when I head up to Assi for my monthly Korean grocery haul (since I live an hour and a half away). I typically have a good experience...but today it was not so good. Here is why. Service was not friendly. It seemed like he was annoyed that the three of us walked in (at 4:45 PM). After we placed our order, he brought everything out quickly. We ordered bulgogi and kalbi...and he put the bulgogi on the grill before it was hot enough to be seared. The end product was boiled bulgogi. The ribs were only 4 slices per order, and the price was $22-24 which is pretty expensive. At least the grill was hot enough to cook the ribs properly. Also, usually grilled meat comes with some type of 'tang', or broth soup. We didn't get that with our meal? I thought it was weird, but didn't ask about it. Had I known it was not a part of the offering, I would have ordered some! The banchan was okay. The radish kimchi was so sour and fermented that it bubbled in my mouth, but the other types were fine. Unfortunately the rice was mushy and pasty towards the middle of the bowl. It also took forever for us to get our bill. The couple that came in after us finished eating after we did and got their bill as soon as they were done. We sat for about fifteen minutes before I had to flag the server down and ask for the check. We were the only table in there. All in all the meats tasted fine, but service was lousy and the prices expensive. I think I'd rather pay 1/4 the price at the food court in Assi, and will be doing that next time.

If it wasn't a Korean BBQ joint, I'd probably describe it as your average bar with a selection of food offerings. The evening crowd is mostly Korean, leaving me feeling slightly out of place. However, the staff is still relatively friendly, the beer list ample, and the food average. Prices seem a bit high, but I don't usually eat out in this area often enough to judge if they are out of place. I have yet to check out their karaoke rooms, but I've heard good things. I'd certainly recommend visiting if you have a Korean friend to join you, else wise it might be worth passing on.

Amazing food. Go hungry. I had never eaten Korean barbecue. I was impressed with the quality of service how the server explained the process taste of the food the freshness of the food and the interesting menu. This place is setback in a not so beautiful shopping center is a diamond in the rough.

Soondubu was good. It hit the spot on a cold night. Moms fish soup was not enjoyed. They used frozen fish instead of fresh fish. Trust me she knows the difference. They owned a fish market for 20 years. My mom and dad raved about the doenjang chigae. They were pretty surprised at how good it was. Jaeyuk bokum was good. At least, husband enjoyed it. Banchan was nothing to write home about but not bad. The thing that bothered me was the service. It seemed very lax. We arrived at 8pm and they made it seem like we were inconveniencing them. Dining isn't all about the food. It's the experience too.

I always come with my family to eat here, and this place always satisfies! The meat is delicious, the banchan are always great, and the salad that comes with the meat (scallions and chili pepper) is amazing. The great variety of meat always lives up to expectations - the bulgogi, kalbi, LA kalbi, spicy pork, and samgyeopsal are always amazing. The other dishes that I've had - seafood pancake, kimchi pancake, dukbokki, soondubu, kimchi jigae, bimbimbap are also delicious. The service here is also very good! I also love the bottles that the barley tea come in - they're super cute!

This Korean BBQ restaurant is located next to the Assi Plaza store, tucked away near the Citizens bank. We were in PA visiting family for Thanksgiving and decided to increase the gluttony by going for Korean BBQ on Saturday. Being from NYC, I often get good Korean food in K-town. Koko was as good, if not better, than the places in NYC. Their appetizers included a big bowl of salad with a delicious dressing that tasted like a diluted & sweetened version of kim-chee dressing. (If anyone knows what that dressing is called/where to buy it/how to make it, let me know!) We got the dolsot bimbimbop and the bulgoi bbq. The rice was not the usual white sticky rice but the wholesome purple grains. Their beef was very high quality and tasty. It was fairly business for a weekend lunch but the service was still attentive. Prices were on par for NYC so might be a bit expensive by suburban PA standards. Would definitely come back the next time we're in the area.

Bbq was great, but a bit small portioned. also thought that the side dish and dduk bok gi was a bit below par. overall, a decent place to get korean bbq in philly.

Wow... How bad can an experience be, let me count the ways..... Kimchi Jun....bland..bland..bland Pan Chon....boring...and not very tasty at all....even my favortie the mung bean sprouts...not good Soon Dooba Chigae...spicy tofu stew....wow..it tasted like plastic...plus not that it was all that horrible, but they only had the rice with the black beans cooked in it... Overall, save yourself the money far to overpriced and eat at the Assi Plaza Foodcourt...you probably won't miss anything. I guess you have to have BBQ only...as the place was packed and the food was horrible...maybe the BBQ is good...but I'll never find out, as I'd rather go to Kim's Barbecue on 67th Street in East Oak Lane...Kalbi to die for...

went up to hatfield to pick up some furniture. afterward was looking for lunch. all i can find were mall food. was getting desperate when we drove pass the Assi plaza and saw this korean restaurant from the road. decided to give it a try. this is about 2 PM and the restaurant was pretty empty. the host was nice and seated us quickly. we had dosoy bimbimbar and soft tofu stew with beef. i was impress with the stew, very flavorful. the bbb was okay. the little dishes were decent. by the time we finished, it is their lunch time. interestingly, the korean staff and the hispanic staffs were seated in separate tables but with the exact same food. not sure if is an owner does not mix with the help thing or what.

I have never actually been here during the day, but their nighttime karaoke rooms are excellent. Their wings and appetizers are really yummy. Their wings are especially unique, they're kind of a spicy sweet sticky glaze. The food can be a little pricey, but definitely worth the portion size. Also don't expect to come here for a long island iced tea or any specialty drinks, they tend to have trouble making them properly. Instead try the pineapple soju or any other type of Korean beverage that they specialize in. I recommend going to this place after about 10pm for a fun night out with friends or a party.

Needed a good Korean food fix, and this place did just the job. Flavorful meats, good Korean flavors, and nice staff made it just what the doctor ordered. Coming from NYC where there are tons of Korean restaurants to choose from, Koko was really just as good.

I don't know if I've ever had worst Korean BBQ. Arrive a little before 7 pm and was seated right away. I order 1 serving of Kalbi which the kitchen had to cook. Food came out a lot quicker than it should have. This is the first Korean restaurant where the Kalbi was boneless. The meat was sliced thin, tough and flavorless. $23 with a soda.

For the area which i live, which is about 35 miles northwest of philly. I give it a preety good rating beacause there is no real Korean food around. The food was tasty, even though I'm partial to fresh kimchi. The market next door had a great selection. I will go back again. what makes it even better is there is aKorean Karoke next door which they usually give you a free hour if your a round eye.

Had a terrific dinner here on a Saturday night. We arrived between 6:30-7 and were seated immediately. By 7:20 there was a wait so I would suggest going earlier to avoid that. I really enjoyed the large variety of appetizers and the big bowl of salad that they bring out is delicious! We ordered the seafood pancake, tofu casserole, and kalbi. All 3 were excellent choices. I'm not entirely familiar with Korean cuisine but this was on par with Korean restaurants that I have been to in K-town as well. One thing I noticed though is that the waitstaff is not very attentive. It took awhile for us to place our orders and even longer (10 minutes) for the appetizers. The manager came out about 20 minutes after we were seated and introduced himself and it was from that point on that the service was on point. I really think our experience there would have been worse had it not been for Kim's supervision. The food was quite good so I'll definitely go back here the next time I am in the mood for Korean.

Off all the ethnic cuisines I have tried, Korean has been by far the most tempting to me lately. You will like the food at this place. Check it out!! ;)

Went with the kid. The food was great, the service was fair.. But the price is unacceptable.. Its pricy.. 3 slices steak for $25 ?? Its too much !!

We've visited a few more times and I've got to upgrade my review. We had BBQ today and it was excellent and their banchan are consistently better than other restaurants in the area. The salad continues to be a favorite and I love that their kimchi.

Food is so so. Service is mediocre.

I will go back again. what makes it even better is there is aKorean Karoke next door which they usually give you a free hour if your a round eye.

not bad, pretty good. service was great and the meat was perfectly marinated. slightly a little bit too expensive but overall it was worth it. i would only go for BBQ though. i would go there again
